The 2010 Syrah|Mourvedre was a small production hit. (If you still have some its drinking wonderfully.)
The 2011 is brighter and leaner (hard to imagine!) and has been undergoing extra bottling aging for the Mourvedre to reveal the signature complex salinity that made the 2010 so popular, and is finally ready.
The Syrah was again from Saralee’s Vineyard in Russian River Valley, and the Mourvedre from famed Rhone grower Ron Mansfield, in El Dorado.

Two Shepherds only non-Rhone wine, from an obscure grey skinned grape from the Jura. These 40 year old vines are across the street from our farm. This is the only vintage made as a white. Unctuous aromas, wet stone, complex texture, vibrant finish. Only 35 cases made.

Only 1/2 barrel (12 cases) of this special wine was made.
Marsanne is typically used as a blending grape, paired with Roussanne. It’s a prevalent white in the cool Norther Rhone region. I was so impressed with one barrel of the 2012, and its Saint Joseph Blanc like qualities, I simply had to share it, as tempted as I am to keep it for my personal stash. Only 1/2 barrel (12 cases) of this special wine was made.
Drinking wonderfully now, it will reward cellaring.
