Two Shepherds is pleased to offer this vineyard designate from Los Olivos, in the Santa Ynez Valley. Grenache Blanc is a wonderful and rare, Rhone white varietal, with less than 250 acres planted in California. It has become the flagship single varietal wine from Two Shepherds with a passionate following.
To enhance the wine and round out its natural acidity, it was fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels, on the lees. This old world technique imparts no oak qualities, but softens the wine, improving texture and mouth feel. There are no acid or water additions, or yeast inoculation – the wine is a true expression of the vintage and varietal, without manipulation.
The 2012 Vintage, shows a bit more freshness, something I desired to increase just slightly, without veering away from the texture and mouth feel that Two Shepherds whites are renowned for. All wine was fermented in neutral 4+ year old French barrels. For the first time, 1/5 (one barrel) was aged in stainless, for more complex aromas and brightness

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The wine is a light straw color. On the nose it exhibits green apple, white peach, and a hint of orange blossom and ocean breeze. On the palate, one tastes citrus, green apple, melon, with nice undertones of salinity. Despite the bright acidity, the mid palate, is soft and round, with a pleasing, subtly complex, lingering finish that goes on and on. An easy sipping pleaser that makes you reach for more. Wonderfully drinkable now, it will also age and gain minerality and additional complexity with bottle aging. To fully appreciate this wine’s aromas and texture mouth, I encourage it to be served at a proper temperature of 55-58 degrees, please do not serve over chilled.
